Update on the story about Poppy, our cat.

Always good to close out a story. Our 15 year old cat, Poppy, was near death’s door a couple of months ago. The vet wasn’t hopeful but did what she could and sent her home to us.

It’s always tense when you have tablets to administer and a feeding regime to keep. However, like most challenges we face it’s about organisation and taking each moment as it happens. Feeding little and often was probably the hardest bit.

We kept going and day by day Poppy showed improvements. We took her back to the vet after a few weeks for a check up and blood review. The vet was amazed at how well Poppy was doing and her blood work was brillant as well.

Poppy has a new lease of life and looks to have rolled back the years. She has lost weight, in a good way, and taken more of an interest in mixing with the younger cats. She has bonded with Gizit, the dog, to the point where she wants to groom him. To be fair he stayed near and watched over her as she healed.

The outcome could have been so different and we had mentally prepared ourselves for it. It’s hard resetting the feelings and accepting the good outcome. We take it day by day and acknowledge the feelings as they arise.

Life is an emotional rollercoaster

Well, it is for me and has been for the last few years. I know some would say ‘take control – do this or do that’. It isn’t that simple when you share your life with fur babies (cats, dogs, birds etc).

One of my cats has spent the weekend with the vets and I lurch from call to call hoping she is doing better. The great thing about the vets practice I use is every member of the team is invested in animal welfare. They look are pets and farm animals. They also are very clear communicators and explain everything they are doing and why they are doing it.

I know Poppy, the cat, is in good hands and I trust them. They are able to tell me even though she is unwell she is taking an interest in other animals being taken in for care. Poppy has the nickname nurse poppy – if you were unwell she would be there on the bed snuggling in.

I think we dismiss the feelings of growth we can have through fur babies. Yes, they take looking after but the communication is non verbal and I think helps enhance our own senses.

I could be wrong. It could be just how I feel. But if I feel it then it is real.

It has been awhile…..

….a long while. I had grand plans for continuing with the blog and with one thing and another I found life got busy.

It took me ages to get over Juno passing. The introduction of another dog left last year (2019)left the house feeling all over the place. Much as Kai is a gorgeous dog, he is all hormones and I think until he reaches adulthood he will continue to be a handful.

Work is going well. It took time to settle into the world of finance. There is still a lot to learn but I have passed the required exams and achieved the recognized qualification.

I took a break from meditations and healing. I needed time to myself. Now with COVID19 I find myself working from home with plenty of time to think. Outdoor meditations have really worked for me.

There has been a focus on people’s mental health and well being during lock down. I think though this is a marathon not a sprint and all those lovely freebies (well being online events) will dry up and return to fee paying customers only.

I might be wrong though.

A whole year on…..

Gizit

This is Gizit and yesterday he was one year old. He was born on my first proper Saturday at home. Home being County Clare, Ireland.

I didn’t set out to get a dog born on the that day. Somewhere along the way the other half said ‘I thought you were going to get another dog’ along with ‘Maybe you didn’t real mean it’.

So, I sat and look through adverts. I found one for older pups (you know the ones who have gone passed the age of being cute) based on a farm a few towns over from us. The pup was to be a he and black. I didn’t have any other things on the wish list.

Well we went into the barn he was in. The door to the pen was opened. He came bounding out and ran into my other half’s arms. Done Deal!!

2018, Here I am!

DSC_0240 Ok, here I am in County Clare, Ireland. Last year I (well the other half eagerly agreed and encouraged it all) moved. Big life change.

Also, a rather large scale adventure. Selling and buying houses in two very different countries was challenging. The articles I’d read about delays in Ireland proved to be untrue in our case. A convoy travelling 3 dogs, 2 cars, ourselves and a friend was fun but tiring. The cats, yes all 5 of them were transported seperately.

With all the travelling back and forth to the UK sorting things out it has been tiring and challenging. That is why things went quiet on the blogging front. However, after a nice restful winter break I am now raring to go.

I have started a Meditation/Relaxation Facebook live on a Wednesday evening at 8pm (GMT). I’ve also restarted my weekly chat and card reading on a sunday at 10am (GMT).

My Facebook Page if you have a Facebook Account like my page and when I’m live you will receive a notification.

I went on a journey…..

dscf2796It has been a long year and it isn’t over yet.

I’ve been on quite a journey and though it isn’t finished I am nearly at a place where I can start sharing where I have been. I have had my fair share of ups and downs; but it has been worth it. As I’ve always been told it isn’t about the destination but the journey. How very true.

The dogs and cats are all well. As is the other half. I’ll admit I’ve had my moments where I’ve wanted to pull the duvet over my head and say ‘sod off world’. However, my resolve and belief that the universe doesn’t throw anything at us we can’t handle has kept me going. There are times when I have thrown Mindfulness and Meditation out the window and indulged in a good old crying session. Now there’s an admission. How many would admit to such?!

Love and Laughter are the two main ingredients which have kept me going this year and both in equal abundance.

Weekly Card Reading & Chat

junoWell, week two of my phased return to work and I am rather enjoying myself. It’s as if I have a new enthusiasm for work. A great feeling. The only downside is working in a building with so many people is the chatting. People haven’t seen me in weeks and they want to say ‘Hello’. I’ve also noticed more people want to hug as well!

Anyway, here is my weekly chat and card reading and I hope you enjoy it.

Weekly Card Reading & Chat

20140504_130355

A strong message coming through this week about community. I remember when I was growing up if you were short on something (tea, sugar etc) you’d be sent to a neighbour with a cup to ask nicely for some. There was always turn about with these requests and it worked. Fast forward 30 years and although I know quite a few of my neighbours I can’t imagine anyone knocking on the door to borrow something.

I was heartened to see on social media one of my sisters put out a message that she had an abundance of beetroot and spinach to share. In turn she was offered raspberries etc when they come into season. Social media is important for connecting and sharing information.

This weeks reading has the usual chat to start with and then I drew the cards. At the end of the session some people asked for one cards readings and I obliged. Please note if I do a reading like this in public for anyone if there is anything I feel is sensitive I will share it later on a one to one basis.

I hope you enjoy this weeks  video

Distance means nothing

20140224_175543The picture is of Gem and Garfield, mother and son stretched out on a fish tank I used to have.

I’ve had an interesting week. Health wise things are really picking up now. No longer is taking the dogs out for a 20 minute walk an up hill battle. We are all quite lively out on the walk and it is lovely to see Juno enjoying himself once again, though the stopping every 2 minutes to sniff flowers, him not me, still needs some getting used to.

The card reading for this week was I felt quite a strong and energetic one. Lots of cards ‘jumping’ out of the pack to form a story of sorts giving guidance. I have had questions and comments on the reading and it is wonderful to find out that so many are getting something out of it.

I’ve also done some distance healing this week. The feedback is good and even if it was just the fact I was sending the individual positive thoughts I would definitely give try sending distance healing again.

Weekly Chat and Card Reading

I have been rather quiet the last few weeks. Being at home recovering doesn’t really provide much food for story telling. Sitting watching the birds in the garden playing in the bark chippings in the back garden. Not really riveting stuff but nice and relaxing.

So, here is this week’s card reading and chat.

I hope you enjoy it and that some of it resonates. If it does and you would like to chat please do Contact Me.
